Hildegard worked with the cosmic egg symbol a lot. I don't really recall whether I knew that or not when I drew this, but mine was really based on a rock I found in the forest on the way to a Wiccan community camping weekend in the early 1990's.  I stopped the car to pee in the woods and looked down to see a perfectly egg shaped rock rounded like on a beach, but this was in the mountains. It had a crisscrossing design quite like what I've drawn, in white quartz veins. I felt very mystical about that design for years, and it called to me when I was making Hildegard's site in 1998. Flashing complementary colors of yellow-purple, orange-blue, red-green is meant to unite the polarities in transcendent perception.
