Art has always been a central part of Margot's life. She can't remember a time when she didn't work with her hands to create. From an early age she knew that there was much more involved in creating art than the mere manipulation of art materials. Although her training and artistic beginnings were traditional, Margot is now at a point in her artistic journey were she is finally breaking free from her art school critic and is creating from her own spirit and her own voice... giving form to what her soul desires. She draws inspiration from nature, dreams, meditation, and shamanism. Her artwork today has become much more of a process of healing, connection, and self discovery. She hopes that if she creates from her authentic self, somewhere along the way others will be able to recognize themselves in her work, or will perhaps be moved by her soul's expression. She holds a Master of Education from Lesley University and is happy to have a full time job teaching art at a local elementary school. She believes that teaching is an equal exchange of energy, she learns as much from her students as they learn from her. Her goal for her students is the same as her own ~ to help them draw out their souls ...

Artist Statement:

“"As above, so below"

My art is about giving form to, and honoring, the divine within. I feel most connected to the divine spirit while in nature. The divine spirit can be felt anywhere in nature, however there are specific destinations ~ often the places of pilgrimage ~ that have a unique and powerful energy. The work included in this show chronicles some of my experiences at such power places: specifically the sacred sites of Ireland and Britain ~my home away from home... My experiences at these various sacred sites ~ many ancient healing wells and megalithic stone circles ~ were profoundly healing. Through meditation, I was able to re-connect with my Pagan Celtic ancestors and was reminded of the land's ancient magic. These sacred sites served as portals to access my own divine nature, and to remind me of what I had known all along...but forgot along the way. The artworks serve as reminders to continue to honor the earth's ancient wisdom and the divine within.
