Cecile Raynor lives in Brookline where she has been working for over 15 years as an Alexander Technique teacher, healer and artist while raising her 2 children. She has been drawing and painting all her life. Though she has no formal education in Art, Cecile's creativity and healing hands affect everything she does from her hands-on teaching to her art work to cooking healthy tasty meals.

Cecile worked on a PhD in French Literature and moved on to become an Alexander Technique teacher with a holistic approach. Through that practice, she also teaches meditation, nutrition, safe exercising and encourages people to explore and use homeopathy. Her meditative CD, 'Active Resting", with acoustic guitar improvisation in the background, helps people improve their postural balance and regenerate their back. Artist Statement:

Joy – Peace – Movement – Stillness – Light & Dark – Clarity – Harmony * Water – Foliage Fire – Trees *

Most of my art work is therapeutic. Art is how I process or express my emotions and thoughts. I draw portraits, have painted in oil and am now focusing on acrylics and monoprinting. My paintings tend to express Joy or Peace in vivid yet subtle colors. They illustrate my deep interest and experience with Movement as a movement specialist and dancer or my experience with Stillness as a long time meditator. My paintings often show contrast between Light and Dark where only a few colors are included. I use a black outline which reflects my passion for Clarity and Harmony. I especially love painting Water, Foliage Fire and Trees. I have been told that the healing quality of my hands and presence affect people through my visual art work and inspirational poems.

THE REINCARNATION WHEEL

Falling,
    Swirling into the wind,
       Flying up and diving down,
          Into the heart of hearts
Curling up and rocking
          Soothingly
             Softly like a baby
Backtracking into the womb
Returning into the blissful void beyond the new beginning
       Where the light shines
          Where enfolded in warmth
             We felt happy!

Happy yet wanting more
Of these delicious sense pleasures
For which we were drawn to return
So we chose to merge into this one body
And again started a brand new human journey!

Cuddly young ones growing and rediscovering
The cycle of smiles and tears, laughter and pain
Figuring out through the difficulties and joys of life
Who we are, where we are and where we're going!

Yearning for something we have forgotten till we remember
Then forgetting some more till we remember once again
Step by step
       Soul happiness and sense happiness
          Competing for our attention
And us searching for a miracle solution
To have them both when we well know
It cannot be, it just won't work
But we don't want to know
We keep forgetting and remembering
We keep trying for the impossible
We keep claiming it can be done
And believing it too, over and over
Maintaining the reincarnation wheel in motion
Till some day we can surrender to the truth
Body mind and soul
       And live life blissfully
          Yet without attachments
Flowing from life to death and back at will

In the complete knowledge of the life mystery
We’ll be ready to not again make the human journey
We’ll be ready to be truly happy in all simplicity
We’ll be ready to leave behind pleasures and misery

No more falling, swirling and curling up
Only light, warmth and peace
In Oneness with All!

"Resting Buddha", painting by Cecile Raynor

BODH GAYA

Cross legged on the green grass
In burgundy and golden robes
The presence of mindful monks
Filled the air with deep voices
Enfolding all in a gentle invitation
To centeredness and compassion!

Sitting under the Bodhi Tree
With its heart shaped leaves
In the flowing wind wavering
I heard a bird singing!

Deep in meditation
On this special occasion
The wind, the leaves,
The bird and I merged
I became my surrounding
I felt like a lotus blossoming
A fountain of love pouring
A soft light shining!

My soul was over me hovering
My eyes were at times opening
And with natives connecting!
Around and around
They were walking
Like Buddha did long ago
Before his enlightment
The big mystery solving
The line between life and death
Forever from his mind vanishing!

Cross legged on the green grass
In burgundy and golden robes
The presence of mindful monks
Filled the air with deep voices
Enfolding all in a gentle invitation
To centeredness and compassion!

Deep in meditation
On this special occasion
The wind, the leaves
The bird and I merged
I became my surrounding
I felt like a lotus blossoming
A fountain of love pouring
A soft light shining!

A local woman came to me
Handing her baby to be blessed
As I returned it with a smile
She bowed to thank me!
Such sacred moment
In awesome awareness
Revealed to my awakened soul
The overwhelming sacredness
Of Sacredness Itself!
